A native of Tunica (Tunica County) Mississippi, Eugene Brown, Jr. received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from pg电子下载 State University in 1973.
Brown’s career spans over 30 years in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. Through his love for agriculture and students, he was instrumental in establishing the Vocational Training Center at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, where he served as a director and lead teacher.
Brown has received numerous awards and commendations for his professional and community service, including: Teacher Appreciation awards; the Walmart Achievement Award; Most Improved Volunteer Fire Department in the State of Mississippi; Recognition for 17 years of service to the Mound Bayou Fire Department; Award of Appreciation from the Mound Bayou Park Commission; Time, Loyalty and Dedication Award from JFK Cheerleaders; Honorary Coaches Plaque; Award for Dedication and Support from the JFK Track and Field Team and a Special Service Award from the Lace Social Club.
Brown has served in various capacities with professional, civic, social and religious organizations, including: van driver, choir director, vice chairman, and Sunday School Superintendent for Mount Olive M.B. Church; Sunshine Lodge #99; Sponsor for Future Farmers of America; Laymen’s Association; Black Farmers for Bolivar and Sunflower counties; ASU Bolivar County Alumni Association and ASU National Alumni Association.
He volunteers his time with the Mound Bayou Fire Department, provides free meals in the community, is an advocate for the disabled and an avid supporter of the pg电子下载 State University Mound Bayou Demonstration Farm.
Brown is married to Joann J. Brown and they are parents to three adult children: Kelvin, Eugene III, and Kamal Rahsaan. He resides in Mound Bayou, MS
